Today was much better.  An awesome appointment with my acupuncturist, a beautiful evening walk with the puppy as the full moon rose in the sky, and just a minor headache for about half an hour in the morning.  I got my 5 meals in, even though the times were later than they probably should have been.  I think I'm clinging onto these last days of my summer schedule where I can sleep in and stay up late.  All in all, though, I think today was successful.

  1. Is the minor headache sugar-related? I noticed you didn't have as much licorice. Did that feel ok to you, or did it make you feel deprived? I have used one, two, or three rectangles of dark chocolate daily to ward off all kinds of things-work table treats, midday "open door and stare at the fridge," and evening cravings, too. I always work the calories into my day so I don't feel like I'm on a "diet." Yay, Ruth!!

  2. I'm not sure if the headache was sugar related or not. I think the first day it was, as I had a ton of it the day before on the drive back from Idaho, but on Monday when I ate it, the headache persisted. Yesterday when I had the licorice, it was craving-oriented instead of to treat pain. I was feeling deprived and wanted something sweet. It's not as much as I wanted, but it helped me, like you said, not feel like I was on a diet. I like your idea about the dark chocolate. I was thinking also about butter rum life savers because I can suck on them and they'll last a while. Licorice is chewy and goes too fast.

  3. Ruth, remember the banana ice cream recipe I shared with you? Here's one link with instructions: http://www.thekitchn.com/stepbystep-instructions-for-on-97170 It might help with the "feeling deprived" issue. You definitely don't want to go there! And congratulations on a successful day 2! :-)

  4. Way to go, Ruth! I'm working on some of the same things, myself.

  5. Sometimes when I think I'm hungry it's just boredom or emotional eating. Try chewing gum if it's not time for your next meal yet. Or you may be thirsty, be sure to get your water in:-)
